Balai Torrentira is a charming Filipino restaurant nestled in Km. 22, Tugbok, Davao City—a true culinary gem that combines authentic local flavors with a warm, homey dining atmosphere. Set in a beautifully repurposed old house, this quaint establishment invites diners to step into a nostalgic yet inviting space where comfort meets tradition.
What immediately stands out at Balai Torrentira is the genuine care put into both the food and the ambiance. The main dining area, converted from an old Filipino home, features a delightful mix of air-conditioned spaces and roofed open-air seating—a perfect balance that allows guests to enjoy the cool breeze while savoring their meal. The subtle touches, like rattan chairs with woven seats that evoke childhood memories and Soleirolia plants decorating the fence, create an atmosphere that is calming and utterly welcoming.
When it comes to the cuisine, Balai Torrentira dazzles with hearty Filipino classics that burst with flavor and made with high-quality ingredients. Customers rave about the karekare—rich, thick peanut sauce enveloping tender meat that comforts and delights with every bite. The coco veggie lumpia, with its satisfyingly crunchy exterior, pairs wonderfully with the local tuba drink, providing a delicious contrast of textures and tastes. Their garlic chicken, generously garnished with fried garlic bits, adds a perfect hint of savoriness to the meal.
Moreover, the place is a haven for those who enjoy a little health-conscious indulgence, such as the much-loved Mulberry Shake, which is noted not only for its refreshing taste but also for its health benefits. The sisig offers the quintessential Filipino flavor, though lighter on the oil to suit palates seeking balance. The sinigang stands out with its perfectly tangy, well-rounded sourness, making it the ideal comfort soup. To round off the dining experience, the Tablea cake is a must-try dessert—rich, luscious, and deeply satisfying for any dark chocolate lover. The available matcha tablea latte intriguingly combines flavors for a unique twist that has become a favorite among regulars.
Practical matters are well-considered here, too. Balai Torrentira offers ample parking with 34 slots conveniently located in front of the restaurant and accessible from the highway, a thoughtful touch for those who plan to visit. While some guests have mentioned that the comfort room could benefit from more upkeep, the staff’s accommodating service more than makes up for minor inconveniences—evidenced by their willingness to extend dining time beyond closing for late arrivals.
What truly elevates Balai Torrentira is the warmth that feels less like a restaurant and more like a gathering place with friends and family. The generous servings reflect Filipino generosity and hospitality, with quality and flavor always taking center stage. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Davao City, this restaurant is a heartfelt ode to Filipino cuisine and culture that invites you to savor not just the food, but the stories and memories woven into its very walls.

Delicious food! We ordered coco veggie lumpia(crunchy, comes with tuba), kare-kare (has a thick peanutty sauce) and garlic chicken (with fried garlic bits). It has 3-4 parking slots in front, directly connected to the highway. The toilet needs work (cleaning etc). The main dining/store is connected to an old house with a dining room, kitchen, and porch, all converted to seating area. The place needs to get rid of mosquitos 'coz we have seen quite a few.

We love how they turned the house into a homey restaurant. I always enjoy getting the Mulberry Shake just 'cause it tastes good and it has great health benefits. We love their Sisig but it can be less oily. Kare Kare was also good but a little too fat for our taste. We loved the Sinigang though, it had the right amount of sourness and the flavor was overall great. Serving is always generous at Balai Torrentira too. A must visit!

Love the vibes. Their rattan chairs have woven seats and backrests, which reminds me of my childhood. Going outside towards the comfort room, on the left is their fence decorated with several Soleirolia pots mounted along the fence—it has a calming effect on me somehow. The place has an air-conditioned entrance with tables; and a roofed open-air space to the back with a cozy chamber that seems to be available for reservations. The chamber in question is air-conditioned and is additionally furnished with a flat-screen TV equipped with a stereo amplifier—perhaps they allow karaoke?

The food is amazing. I prioritize quality of service and food above all else and this place really hits the spot. The rice is pricier that usual but larger than your normal portions from other places and the food is delicious. Worth every peso! I also highly recommend the dessert as the Tablea cake is a dream for dark chocolate lovers.

Favorite restaurant in the city! I love the choco tablea cake - good portion for its price and tastes better than more pricey cakes tbh! Love the matcha tablea latte as well, go-to order always! Never thought they taste great together, a must-try for everyone. Rice bowls are good as well - I love the bicol express. For some reason I didn’t like their halohalo - it wasn’t as sweet and creamy I thought it would be but if you’re into halohalos that are a little bit on the side where all the fruits/ingredients overpower the ice and milk then it might be for you. Pica-pica platter portions are big. Buko pie is good - perfect for take home to the elderly lol Ambiance is really nice- it feels homey the downside maybe is that there are lots of mosquitoes outside hope they do something about this. Staff are accommodating and dishes are reasonably priced.

Food is good and affordable. Place is clean and I appreciate the sustainable design - coconut husks for plates, wooden utensils, paper straws. Balai (house) Torrentira is a redesigned home turned into a restaurant - which is why some problems arise from turning a residential into a commercial space, such as parking. If you plan to visit as a group, it’s best to book in advance as the place can get overwhelmed during peak hours. Will recommend the place overall.
